Introduction
This Refunds & Returns Policy outlines the terms under which Megalift Construction Gear (“we,” “our,” “us”) processes refunds, returns, and exchanges. This policy applies to all transactions unless superseded by specific terms in a written contract or Rental Agreement. By purchasing or renting equipment from us, you (“Customer,” “you,” “your”) agree to this policy.
General Principles
2.1. All requests for returns, refunds, or exchanges must be initiated by contacting our Customer Service team at returns@megaliftgear.co.uk or calling [Phone Number].
2.2. We aim to resolve all issues fairly and promptly, in accordance with your statutory rights and the terms below.
2.3. This policy is in addition to, and does not affect, your statutory rights as a consumer under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable UK law.
Returns & Refunds for Equipment Sales (Non-Rental)
3.1. New Equipment
Faulty on Delivery: If new equipment arrives damaged, defective, or not as described, you must notify us within 48 hours of delivery. We will arrange inspection, collect the item at our cost, and upon verification, offer a full refund, repair, or replacement at your choice.
Change of Mind / Incorrect Order: We do not generally accept returns for new equipment due to a change of mind or if you ordered the incorrect item, due to the specialised nature of our products. Exceptions may be made at our sole discretion, subject to a 25% restocking fee and provided the equipment is returned in its original, unused, saleable condition with all packaging and documentation within 14 days of delivery. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the Customer.
3.2. Used Equipment
All used equipment is sold on an “as seen, inspected” basis, as detailed in the specific sales listing.
Refunds or returns for used equipment are only considered if the item has a latent defect that was not reasonably apparent during inspection and that constitutes a fundamental breach of the sales contract. You must notify us of any such defect within 7 days of delivery.
No returns are accepted for used equipment due to change of mind, minor wear and tear, or where the equipment is fit for its general purpose.
3.3. Parts & Attachments
Unused parts in original packaging may be returned within 30 days of purchase for a full refund, provided they are in resalable condition. A restocking fee of 15% may apply for non-faulty returns of large or specialist items.
Faulty parts will be replaced or refunded. Proof of fault may be required.
3.4. Process for Sales Returns:
Contact us for a Return Merchandise Authorisation (RMA) number.
Securely package the item with all accessories and manuals.
Include the RMA number clearly on the outside of the package.
Ship to the address we provide, using a trackable service. We recommend insurance.
Refunds will be processed to the original payment method within 14 days of us receiving and verifying the returned item.
Cancellations, Refunds & Adjustments for Equipment Hire (Rental)
4.1. Cancellation Before Delivery/Collection:
More than 72 hours before scheduled delivery/collection: Full refund of any deposit or pre-payment.
Less than 72 hours before scheduled delivery/collection: A cancellation fee equal to one day’s hire rate may be charged to cover administration and lost opportunity costs.
4.2. Early Termination of Hire Period:
The agreed minimum hire period (e.g., one day, one week) is chargeable in full.
For hires extending beyond the minimum period, no refund is given for early return of equipment. The full hire charge for the agreed period remains payable.
4.3. Downtime / Equipment Failure During Hire:
If equipment breaks down through no fault of the Customer and cannot be repaired or replaced within 24 hours of notification, a daily hire rate credit will be applied for the full days the equipment is unusable. This is your sole remedy for rental downtime.
4.4. Refund of Security Deposit:
Any security/damage deposit will be refunded in full within 10 working days of the safe return of equipment, subject to deduction for any damages, excess cleaning, missing items, or unpaid charges.
Services & Consultancy Fees
Fees for performed services (e.g., on-site repairs, maintenance, consultancy) are generally non-refundable once the service has been rendered.
Cancellation of a scheduled service visit with less than 24 hours notice may incur a cancellation fee of up to 50% of the quoted service call-out charge.
Exclusions & Non-Refundable Items
The following are strictly non-refundable:
Delivery, shipping, and collection charges (unless the delivery was of faulty goods).
Custom-ordered or bespoke manufactured items.
Items that have been used, installed, modified, or damaged after delivery.
Fuel, lubricants, or consumables supplied with equipment.
Any item not returned in its original condition, with all parts, manuals, and packaging.
How Refunds Are Processed
7.1. All approved refunds will be issued to the original payment method used for the purchase.
7.2. Please allow up to 10 working days for the refund to be processed and appear in your account, depending on your financial institution.
